Stereolithography (SLA) is the gold standard in additive manufacturing for producing parts with exceptional surface smoothness and intricate feature detail. Unlike SLS or FDM, which rely on heat, SLA uses a precision UV laser to cure liquid photopolymer resin layer by layer, resulting in isotropic, watertight components. At JUCHENG, we utilize a fleet of large-format industrial SLA printers to offer a versatile library of resin materials. From High-Temp Somos® grades for wind tunnel testing to Optical Clear Resins for lighting prototypes, we deliver parts that simulate the look and feel of final injection-molded thermoplastics like ABS, PC, and PP.

  • Master Patterns: Our high-precision SLA parts are the preferred choice for creating master patterns used in Vacuum Casting (Urethane Casting).

Tough / Durable Resin Somos® 14120 Godart® 8111 Low viscosity resin producing parts with high impact strength and moisture resistance. Simulates the durability of ABS or PBT. Very consistent surface. Consumer products, mobile phone casings, automotive parts, functional assemblies.
High-Temp Resin Somos® PerFORM Somos® Imagine 8000 Ceramic-filled (PerFORM) or high-performance resin. Extremely high stiffness and heat deflection temperature (up to 260°C). Excellent detail resolution. Under-the-hood components, wind tunnel test models, injection mold tooling, electrical housings.
Functional Resin (PP-like) Flexible / Tough Resin Simulates Polypropylene (PP). High elongation and flexibility. Resists breaking when snapped or bent. Good fatigue resistance. Snap-fit assemblies, living hinges, protective packaging, wearable device prototypes.
Castable Resin Wax-like Resin Burns out cleanly with zero ash content. Captures ultra-fine details. Designed specifically for investment casting processes. Jewelry masters, dental crowns, precision metal casting patterns.

SLA Printing Guidelines & Design Tips

  • Support Structures: Unlike SLS, SLA requires support structures for overhangs. We carefully place supports to minimize scarring, but small marks may remain on the bottom surface (which we sand smooth).
  • UV Sensitivity: SLA resins cure with UV light. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause parts to become brittle or yellow over time. Painting or UV-blocking clear coats are recommended for longevity.
  • Hollowing: Large solid parts are typically hollowed to reduce weight and resin cost. Drain holes must be added to allow un-cured liquid resin to escape from the interior.
  • Brittleness: While tough resins exist, standard SLA parts are generally more brittle than SLS nylon. They are not recommended for high-impact testing.
