High-Performance & Specialty Injection Molding Materials
High-performance plastics, often referred to as "super-polymers," represent the pinnacle of thermoplastic technology. Materials like PEEK, PPS, and Specialty PE (UHMV) offer extraordinary mechanical strength, thermal stability, and chemical resistance that standard engineering plastics cannot match. They are frequently used to replace machined metal components, offering weight reduction without sacrificing performance. At JUCHENG, we have the specialized equipment and expertise required to mold these challenging materials. From high-temperature oil-heated molds to wear-resistant screw assemblies, our facility is optimized to deliver precision parts for the most demanding aerospace, medical, and automotive applications.
High-Performance & Specialty Injection Molding Materials
JUCHENG's High-Performance Molding Capabilities
Processing super-polymers requires conditions far beyond standard molding. JUCHENG delivers:
- High-Temperature Tooling: Materials like PEEK and PPS require mold temperatures above 140°C to crystallize correctly. We utilize high-performance oil thermolators to maintain precise thermal control.
- Wear-Resistant Components: These materials are often filled with glass or carbon fibers, which are highly abrasive. We use specialized bimetallic screws and barrels to prevent wear and contamination.
- Precision Process Control: We employ scientific molding principles to manage the narrow processing windows of high-performance resins, ensuring void-free parts with optimal mechanical properties.
- Post-Molding Annealing: We offer in-house annealing (heat treatment) services to relieve internal stresses and maximize the crystallinity and dimensional stability of PEEK and PPS parts.
Detailed Material Profiles
We process the most advanced thermoplastics available in the market:
1、PEEK (Polyetheretherketone)
- Description: An organic semi-crystalline thermoplastic with exceptional mechanical and chemical resistance. It is often considered the highest-performing moldable plastic.
- Key Advantages: Continuous service temperature up to 260°C, excellent biocompatibility (medical grade), inherent flame retardancy, and high strength-to-weight ratio.
- Ideal Applications: Aerospace brackets, medical implants (long-term), semiconductor wafer carriers, compressor valves, high-speed bearings.
- Description: A semi-crystalline material known for its metal-like sound when struck ("metallic ring"). It offers the broadest resistance to chemicals of any high-performance plastic.
- Key Advantages: Exceptional dimensional stability (very low creep), impervious to almost all solvents below 200°C, high rigidity, and excellent electrical insulation.
- Ideal Applications: Automotive fuel system parts, pump impellers, electrical sockets, heater housings, flow sensors.
- Description: Note: Standard UHMV is difficult to injection mold due to high viscosity. We process modified Injection-Grade UHMV or High-Performance PE. It is known for extreme toughness.
- Key Advantages: Highest impact strength of any thermoplastic, extremely low coefficient of friction (self-lubricating), and outstanding abrasion resistance (better than steel).
- Ideal Applications: Conveyor belt guides, heavy-duty wear strips, chute liners, noise-dampening gears, industrial wheels.
Design Guidelines for High-Performance Plastics
- Gating: PEEK and PPS solidify instantly. We use large gates to ensure proper packing and minimize voids.
- Corner Radii: Essential. High-stiffness materials like Carbon-Filled PEEK are notch-sensitive. Generous radii reduce stress concentrations.
- Wall Thickness: Keep walls uniform. Thick sections in PEEK can be very expensive due to material cost; we recommend coring out designs to save weight and money.
- Draft Angles: Minimum 1° is recommended. High-performance materials can shrink tightly onto the core.
