Alloy Steel & Galvanized Sheet Metal Fabrication Material
In the world of sheet metal fabrication, "Alloy Steel" encompasses a broad range of materials engineered for specific performance needs—from the superior rust protection of Galvanized Steel to the high strength of Medium Carbon Steel. At JUCHENG, we understand that selecting the right steel grade is critical for your product's success. Whether you need SECC for detailed computer enclosures, SGCC for rugged outdoor cabinets, or Steel #45 for high-stress structural components, our factory provides a true one-stop solution. We combine high-power laser cutting, precision forming, and specialized welding techniques to handle these diverse materials with ensuring structural integrity and cosmetic perfection.
Alloy Steel Sheet Metal Fabrication
JUCHENG's Alloy Steel Fabrication Capabilities
Processing diverse steel grades requires adaptable manufacturing protocols. JUCHENG delivers:
- Pre-Coated Steel Expertise: We specialize in cutting and forming SECC and SGCC. Our fiber lasers are tuned to cut galvanized sheets cleanly, and we offer edge-protection treatments to prevent rust on the cut surface.
- High-Strength Forming: For tough materials like Steel #45 and Q235, our press brakes utilize high-tonnage force and hardened tooling to achieve precise bends without spring-back errors.
- Surface Treatment: From powder coating SECC chassis to plating Q235 brackets, our in-house finishing ensures your parts meet salt-spray test requirements (up to 1000 hours).
- Structural Assembly: We provide heavy-duty MIG welding for Q235 frames and precision spot welding for thin SECC electronic housings.
Advantages of Alloy & Galvanized Steel
| Advantage | Detailed Description | Key Benefit |
| Built-In Corrosion Resistance | SECC and SGCC come pre-coated with zinc layers. | Eliminates the need for post-plating in many indoor/outdoor applications; prevents rust. |
| Superior Strength (#45) | Steel #45 offers significantly higher hardness and tensile strength than mild steel. | Ideal for parts under high mechanical stress, wear plates, and heavy-duty brackets. |
| Excellent Paintability | SECC (Electrolytic) has a fine, smooth texture that holds paint/powder exceptionally well. | Suitable for protective shells, machinery guards, and automotive body parts. |
| Structural Reliability | Q235 (A3) provides solid structural performance at a low cost. | reliable for general construction parts and internal mechanical skeletons. |
| Cost-Effectiveness | SPCC and SGCC offer the best balance of performance and price for mass production. | Economical solution for large-scale manufacturing of housings and panels. |
Technical Parameters & Material Properties
We cover your specific list of Alloy Steel and Coated Steel grades:
| Grade Category | Specific Models | Detailed Characteristics | Ideal Applications |
| Electrolytic Plate | SECC | Cold rolled steel with an electrolytic zinc coating. Grayish, uniform matte appearance. Excellent fingerprint resistance and paint adhesion. Superior to SPCC in corrosion resistance. | Computer cases, DVD player housings, server chassis, switchgear cabinets, electrical panels. |
| Galvanized Sheet | SGCC | Hot-dip galvanized steel. Thicker zinc layer than SECC, often with a "spangle" (crystal pattern) finish. Superior corrosion resistance but surface is rougher. | Outdoor HVAC units, roofing sheets, communication tower brackets, washing machine bodies. |
| Cold Rolled Sheet | SPCC | Standard commercial cold rolled steel. Smooth surface, tight tolerances. No coating (must be painted/plated). Very easy to form. | Painted enclosures, internal brackets, automotive body parts, general sheet metal. |
| Structural Carbon Steel | Q235 (Steel A3) | Low-intermediate carbon steel. Excellent weldability and plasticity. Good comprehensive performance for structural loads. | Construction connectors, chassis frames, agricultural machinery parts, base plates. |
| Medium Carbon Steel | Steel #45 | Higher carbon content (~0.45%). Much stronger and harder than Q235/SPCC but less ductile and harder to weld. Can be heat treated. | High-strength washers, wear strips, heavy-duty structural clips, machine parts requiring hardness. |
Fabrication Guidelines for Alloy Steel
- Welding Coated Steel: Welding SECC/SGCC generates zinc fumes. We ensure proper ventilation and often remove the zinc coating at the weld joint to prevent porosity defects.
- Laser Cutting: When cutting SGCC, the zinc layer can affect the cut quality. We use Nitrogen assist gas to maintain a clean edge and reduce dross.
- Painting Preparation: SECC is designed for painting and usually requires only degreasing. SPCC and Q235 require phosphating or sandblasting before powder coating to ensure adhesion.
- Forming Hard Steel: Bending Steel #45 requires larger bend radii to prevent cracking due to its higher hardness compared to SPCC.
Application Scenarios
- IT & Electronics: PC towers (SECC), server racks, router enclosures.
- Appliances: Washing machine drums, refrigerator back panels (SGCC), microwave housings.
- Automotive: Structural reinforcement bars (Q235), seat mechanisms.
- Industrial: Heavy-duty machine guards, wear plates (#45), outdoor generator canopies (SGCC).
- Construction: Brackets, joist hangers, and internal support structures.
