Axson UP 7495 Vacuum Casting Material
Axson UP 7495 is a premium polyurethane elastomer system designed to meet the most demanding requirements for flexible prototypes. While standard rubber simulants are sufficient for visual models, UP 7495 delivers functional durability. It is characterized by its outstanding tear propagation resistance and high elongation at break. At JUCHENG, we recommend this material for engineering applications where the part must withstand stretching, twisting, or abrasion without failing. It effectively simulates high-grade TPE, TPU, or industrial Rubber, bridging the gap between prototyping and mass production performance.
Axson UP 7495
Basic Characteristics & Composition
Axson UP 7495 is a three-component system known for its robust mechanical properties.
- Superior Tear Strength: This is its defining feature. Unlike weaker elastomers that tear easily once nicked, UP 7495 resists tear propagation, making it suitable for dynamic seals and flexible hinges.
- High Elongation: It can be stretched significantly (often >500%) and returns to its original shape with good memory (rebound).
- Chemical Resistance: Offers better resistance to concrete, plaster, and mild chemicals than standard urethanes.
- Dimensional Stability: Low shrinkage for an elastomer, ensuring accurate fit for gaskets.
Color Options
- Standard: Off-White / Beige (Natural).
- Coloring: JUCHENG excels at tinting UP 7495. Because painting flexible parts is prone to cracking, we add pigments directly into the liquid resin to achieve durable, integral colors like Safety Yellow, Black, or Red.
Key Technical Parameters
1. Mechanical Properties (Typical values after post-curing):
2. PROCESSING
4. STORAGE
| Property | Value | Unit | Standard |
| Hardness | 55 - 60 | Shore A | ISO 868 |
| Tear Strength | > 45 | MPa | ISO 527 |
| Tensile Strength | 8 - 10 | % | ISO 527 |
| Elongation at Break | > 500 | kN/m | ISO 34 |
| Rebound Resilience | 45 - 50 | % | - |
| Linear Shrinkage | 0.1 - 0.5 | % | - |
2. PROCESSING
- Vacuum Quality: Crucial. Any micro-bubbles acting as stress concentrators will ruin the tear strength. Our high-vacuum casting process guarantees a void-free solid elastomer.
- Mixing: Three components must be weighed and mixed precisely to ensure the curing reaction proceeds correctly.
- Pot Life: Approx. 15-20 minutes, allowing for the filling of large or complex molds.
- Demolding: 12-16 hours at room temperature or accelerated with heat. Longer cure times than rigid plastics.
3. PRECAUTIONS
- Mold Release: Due to its adhesive nature, specific release agents must be applied to the silicone mold to prevent sticking.
- Moisture: Sensitive to humidity; materials are stored in climate-controlled areas.
4. STORAGE
- Conditions: Store in a dry place between 15°C and 25°C.
Application Scenarios & Fields
Axson UP 7495 is used where durability is non-negotiable:
- Industrial Seals: Heavy-duty gaskets for machinery, oil seals, watertight grommets.
- Flexible Molds: Used to make molds for casting concrete, gypsum, or ceramics (due to chemical resistance and tear strength).
- Automotive: Suspension dust boots, flexible air intake hoses, vibration isolators.
- Footwear: Outsole prototypes requiring high abrasion resistance and flex fatigue life.
- Soft Grips: Overmolding onto metal tools for ergonomic handles.
Vacuum Casting Process Compatibility
- Silicone Tooling: Compatible with standard silicone molds. The high tear strength allows for demolding complex shapes with severe undercuts without tearing the part.
- Adhesion: Bonds well to metal inserts or rigid PU substrates when used in overmolding applications.
- Finishing: Flash must be trimmed carefully with sharp tools. Sanding is difficult; smooth mold finishes (gloss or texture) are preferred.
Advantages vs. Limitations
| Advantages | Limitations |
| Extreme Tear Resistance: Best-in-class durability. | Cure Time: Longer demolding time slows down production speed slightly. |
| High Elasticity: Great stretch and rebound. | Hardness Range: Primarily available in the Shore A 55-60 range (Medium Soft). |
| Mold Making: Can be used as a mold material itself. | Surface Finish: Difficult to post-process/polish; rely on mold texture. |
| Chemical Stability: Resists aggressive casting materials (like concrete). | Cost: Premium material cost. |
