Hei-Cast 8570 Vacuum Casting Material
For functional prototypes that require thermal stability beyond what standard resins can offer, Hei-Cast 8015 is the reliable, cost-effective choice. This polyurethane casting resin is specifically formulated to simulate the performance of Heat-Resistant ABS or PBT. While standard resins may soften or warp at temperatures around 80°C, Hei-Cast 8015 maintains its structural integrity up to approximately 105°C. At JUCHENG, we recommend this material for validating household appliances, automotive interior components exposed to sunlight, and industrial enclosures where moderate heat management is required.
Hei-Cast 8570
Basic Characteristics & Composition
Hei-Cast 8015 is a two-component system that balances thermal properties with mechanical toughness.
- Thermal Stability: It bridges the gap between general-purpose resins and ultra-high-temp specialty resins, handling boiling water temperatures or engine bay ambient heat effectively.
- ABS Simulation: It replicates the rigidity and impact strength of engineering ABS plastics used in injection molding.
- Flowability: The low viscosity mixture ensures excellent mold filling, capturing fine textures and ribs without defects.
- Durability: Offers better impact resistance than some extremely rigid high-temp materials, preventing brittle failure during assembly.
Color Options
- Standard: Beige / Light Brown (Natural).
- Finishing: The material cures to a hard, non-porous surface that is ideal for sanding and painting. To achieve specific aesthetic requirements, JUCHENG skilled finishers can apply heat-resistant primers and topcoats.
Key Technical Parameters
1.Mechanical Properties (Typical values):
| Property | Value | Unit | Standard |
| Hardness | 80 - 82 | Shore D | JIS K 7215 |
| Flexural Modulus | 2,000 - 2,200 | MPa | JIS K 7171 |
| Tensile Strength | 60 - 65 | MPa | JIS K 7113 |
| Elongation at Break | 10 - 15 | % | JIS K 7113 |
| Heat Deflection Temp (HDT) | 100 - 105 | °C | JIS K 7191 |
| Impact Strength (Izod) | 5 - 7 | kJ/m² | JIS K 7110 |
| Linear Shrinkage | 0.3 - 0.4 | % | - |
2. PROCESSING
- Vacuum Casting: Processed under vacuum to ensure a void-free dense part.
- Pot Life: Approx. 6-8 minutes.
- Demolding: 60-90 minutes at 60-70°C.
- Post-Curing: Required. To unlock its heat resistance (105°C), the part must undergo a post-cure cycle in an oven. Without this step, thermal properties will remain similar to standard resins.
3. PRECAUTIONS:
- Moisture: Polyol component absorbs moisture easily; containers are kept sealed and nitrogen-purged at JUCHENG.
- Wall Thickness: Consistent wall thickness helps prevent warpage during the thermal post-cure process.
4. STORAGE:
- Conditions: Store in a cool, dry location (15°C - 25°C).
Application Scenarios & Fields
Hei-Cast 8015 is ideal for "warm environment" testing:
- Household Appliances: Casings for coffee makers, electric kettles, toasters, and hair dryers.
- Automotive: Interior dashboards, sun visors, air vents (HVAC), and electronics housings near heat sources.
- Lighting: Lamp housings and bezels that must withstand LED heat.
- Industrial: Motor covers and machinery guards exposed to operating heat.
Vacuum Casting Process Compatibility
- Silicone Tooling: Compatible with standard silicone molds.
- Machining: Cured parts are rigid and machinable. They can be drilled, tapped, and sanded.
- Surface Treatment: Accepts EMI/RFI shielding paint for electronic applications.
Advantages vs. Limitations
| Advantages | Limitations |
| Good Heat Resistance: Stable up to ~105°C. | Color: Natural beige color limits use for unpainted aesthetic parts. |
| Balanced Toughness: Not as brittle as ultra-high-temp resins. | Post-Cure: Requires oven time to achieve full properties. |
| Cost-Effective: Often cheaper than specialized 120°C+ resins. | Not Flame Retardant: Does not meet V-0 standards (Use Hei-Cast 8960 for that). |
| Paintability: Excellent surface for cosmetic finishing. |
